Our Principles
Our Principles
Voices for Progress members believe that that all people should have the opportunity to provide a good life for themselves and their families through hard work, be treated with dignity and protected from discrimination, and pass the world on to future generations safer and better than it is today.
We support:
Protecting the Environment and Preventing Climate Catastrophe
Advocating for comprehensive energy, clean air, and climate change policies that stop global warming, prevent pollution that causes sickness and death, create jobs, and make the US a leader in the new green energy economy.
Creating Jobs and Investing in America’s Future
Investing in infrastructure, green jobs, and education that will create jobs and opportunity, and build America’s strength.
Closing Tax Loopholes and Asking the Wealthier to Pay Their Fair Share
Reducing the deficit through a mix of economic growth and fair taxation in which those of us who have benefitted the most from the opportunities our country provides return to paying a greater share of our income or inheritance than others.
Strengthening America’s Safety Net
Ensuring all Americans have guaranteed access to adequate food, shelter, social services, and security.
Protecting Reproductive Freedom
Ensuring women – not politicians – have the right to make decisions about their reproductive health.
Improving Education and Opportunity
Increasing funding and encouraging best practices – beginning with parenting coaching for at-risk parents, and ending with affordable job training or higher education – so that all children and adults have the opportunity to maximize their potential.
Protecting Civil and Human Rights
Prohibiting racial, gender, religious, national origin, sexual orientation, and disability discrimination. We support comprehensive immigration reform that provides a path to citizenship.
Ensuring All Americans Have Access to Quality and Affordable Health Care
Ensuring critical protections for consumers, extending coverage to uninsured Americans, and bringing down health system costs.
Reforming the way Elections are Financed
Advocating for the public financing of elections while minimizing the impact of wealth and corporate money on campaigns.
